Janet Eisenberg - Bringing Yourself to Your Auditions

What to expect

This is a rare “get”. in the VO world. Janet Eisenberg has NEVER done a workshop or a class anywhere else. In this workshop Janet will answer questions about her time in the business and then each participant will get a chance to read commercial scripts and get some direction.

Janet Eisenberg (she/her) has been a fixture (a leopard-print couch, to be specific) in the New York advertising community since back in 1992. That was the year Janet, an in-house casting director at Ayer Advertising, and a recent immigrant from Los Angeles, decided to open her own voice casting business. For twenty-five years, Janet has been casting voices for TV and radio commercials and promos, animated feature films, documentaries, and television projects.

For over two decades, Janet has always done everything herself–from prepping jobs to directing sessions to choosing and booking talent, recording and editing her casting sessions. If you go to another casting director, you never know who'll actually be doing the casting.

Janet was a drama geek in high school, at a high school where being drama geek really meant something. She was also involved in theater as an undergrad at UC Berkeley. During her 30 years in New York, she has been a dedicated supporter of New York theater. Janet's experience with theater and actors gives her a unique insight into the psychologies of those in whom passion and talent rage like forests on fire, while sanity flickers like a match in a thunderstorm. Janet's theatrical experience also informs her directing style and casting choices, assuring she gets the best work out of the best actors.
