This class is designed for all levels of VO talent to benefit from.

 Commercial work is a core pillar for the voiceover industry. When seeking agent representation, a demo demonstrating commercial samples is industry standard. Excelling in it requires having a strong foundation in technique and the cultivation and development of an array of skills. The great news is that the commercial industry is more inclusive of a diversity of people and vocal styles than ever before. Gone are the days of the airwaves being dominated by announcer-sounding white men, and in, is the reflection of the great array of voices that more accurately reflect who we are as a society, and as people.

 In this class, Asa will work with you to develop a heightened level of comfort and control of your voice as an instrument. You will explore what Asa calls “stylized authenticity” in service of realizing the creative vision for a wide-range of commercial applications. We will cover vocal delivery technique, interpreting “specs” for auditions, receiving direction, modifying your delivery and developing a stable of “styles” that you can call upon for different commercial types.

 Class time will feature extensive “on-mic” sessions for each participant with personalized feedback and direction using real commercial copy. Asa will also share experiences and give insider insights into best practices for commercial recording sessions with directors and creatives, as well as for at-home auditioning on your own.

 At the culmination of this course, you will know exactly what commercial VO work requires and get an assessment on next steps needed including private coaching and/or recording your demo in order to approach decision-makers to start booking work.
